The Arncliffe is, arguably, a building known to every person in Halewood. At some point, whether to play football, attend a Town Council meeting, meet friends for a dance session, enjoy a Pensioner’s Party or play football, almost every person will have set foot in the centre. It is already a major component of the civic and social life of people in Halewood.

The Arncliffe Centre provides a unique function in its community. It is one of the largest venues of the size and quality in the area. The location is no more than 15 minutes’ walk from most places in Halewood, even closer for most people. It is served by a regular bus route through the township of Halewood, and less than a 5-minute walk from bus routes travelling to and from Liverpool City Centre.

The Arncliffe Centre also enjoys an excellent reputation as a friendly and helpful Centre!

If you want to celebrate Christenings, Children’s Parties, 18th and 21st Birthday Parties, Wedding Receptions etc, you will find that the Arncliffe Centre is an ideal venue.  You will find a good community facility, with dedicated staff to make your private function a success. You can have full use of our kitchen, to provide your own catering for the event. There is a well-stocked bar at competitive prices, and we are immensely proud of the feedback we have had from satisfied customers.

Ideal for day-time functions (weather permitting), is a huge garden and park area at the back of the building. This area is also open all week throughout the summer for the use of the community. The open space has picnic tables and benches, it is fenced to provide a secure environment, whilst being maintained to a high standard. There is a second outside playground at the front of the building, as well a hard play area, two synthetic play pitches and grassed junior sized pitches used by the Halewood Junior Football League. The hard play area is also floodlit, allowing the activities to take place in the winter months, with the whole site being monitored by a CCTV system.

We have an additional Sports Hall for hire which can be used for Dance, Drama and Martial Arts and has a special floor for these sort of activities. The centre is used by all age ranges, but is especially well-used by children and young people throughout the week.

Barclays for Sport / Football Foundation

The Barclays for Sport/Football Foundation Project- A History

Following a detailed application from “Everton in the Community” and Knowsley Borough Council, the Arncliffe site was chosen for part of the £30 million Barclays Spaces for Sport initiative to create sustainable sports facilities across the UK and has benefited from an extension to the community centre, the provision of additional changing facilities, improvements to the multi games area in the shape of synthetic surfaces, as well as the upgrading of the drainage for the grass football pitches. A grant of £600,000 from Barclays and the Football Foundation made the significant contribution towards the cost of the project, with Knowsley Met Borough Council, and Halewood Town Council contributing a further £150,000 each to make the project a reality, and which officially opened on 16 October 2007..

The Merseyside & Halewood Junior Soccer League and the Halewood Town Sports Association are based at the centre, and the Leagues use the grassed playing areas as home pitches.

The Town Council are responsible for the running of the new and upgraded facilities, with usage and charging policy all agreed. The Annexe Hall is available to hire seven days a week, with the normal rate per hour being applied.

The synthetic surfaces,, (which have floodlights), originally provided as part of the  project were upgraded at the Town Council’s expense in May 2016 to 3G and the Centre now has a modern, up to date facility available to hire at very competitive rates, including a reduced fee for proven Halewood groups or residents. Any income from this hire will help maintain the facilities and the running costs associated with the facilities.

The usage programmes were devised to take account of “term-time”, and “holiday time” use. The synthetic surfaces have been made available for the following use, although if no “free users” are booked, then the surfaces will of course be available for group/club hire:
