Knowsley Borough Council waste collection service have missed blue bins for green waste in the Halewood Area.

For missed bins, please leave your bin out for collection and collections will take place in the next 48 hours.

The collection service will be utilised to all affected roads as soon as possible.  Staff will be working over the weekend to clear the backlog.

The disruption to service is due to Covid and Long Covid staff absence.

Dear Residents,

Please note, resuming from Monday September 6th, between 7pm and 8pm and every week after, Councillor Ken Dalton will be taking Council Surgeries at the Arncliffe Sports & Community Centre, Halewood, L25 9PA.

Residents, one of our Councillors has chased up the problem with the 188 bus to Garston.  The Councillor has been informed that due to Covid-19 sicknesses they haven’t been able to fulfil the normal bus timetable.  This is only a temporary situation, and they can only apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The Council’s residual waste collection service (maroon bin) is unfortunately delayed due to very high numbers of staff absence, largely due to COVID-19 self-isolation.

To ensure that this week’s residual waste rounds are completed by the end of Friday the Council need to move staff currently delivering green garden waste collections (blue bin) onto the residual waste teams.

Consequently the planned green waste collections tomorrow and on Friday, in Halewood, will be undertaken over the weekend.

The Council’s contact centre and web-site is informing residents who have not received their normal collection, to leave their bins out and the Council will empty them as quickly as possible.

Weed Spraying

Street Scene Teams are working very hard, and a second weed spray is to be done by the end of next week.  Thank you for your patience.

A reminder that Halewood Town Council is  holding a Car Boot Sale on Saturday 17th July, from 9.00am at The Arncliffe Centre, Halewood. Entrance for vehicles from Arncliffe Road entrance, with visitors and buyers welcome from 9.00am.

There will also be an independent mini table sale within the building.

Notice of Public Rights 2021

Residents will be aware that the government has announced a four-week pause at Step 3 of its ‘roadmap’ to lift lockdown restrictions.

It is expected that England will move to Step 4 on Monday 19th July, though the data will be reviewed after two weeks in case the risks have reduced. The Government will continue to monitor the data and the move to Step 4 will be confirmed one week in advance.

However, some restrictions will change on Monday 21 June from when there will be changes to the rules on:

• weddings and civil partnership ceremonies and wedding receptions or civil partnership celebrations
• commemorative events following a death such as a wake, stone setting or ash scattering
• large events pilots
• care home visits
• domestic residential visits for children

Most restrictions on meeting others outdoors have been lifted although gatherings of over 30 people remain illegal.

Indoors, the Rule of 6 or 2 households still applies.

Indoor hospitality has reopened but customers need to order, eat and drink while seated.

Other indoor locations that have opened up 3 include indoor entertainment venues such as cinemas and children’s play areas, hotels, hostels and B&Bs and indoor adult group sports and exercise classes.

Some larger performances and sporting events in indoor venues can go ahead with reduced capacity.

Up to 30 people can attend weddings, receptions and wakes, as well as funerals. This limit will also apply to other types of significant life events including bar mitzvahs and christenings.

You should continue to work from home if you can and minimise the number of journeys you make where possible. You should get a test and follow the stay at home guidance if you have COVID-19 symptoms.

Keeping ourselves and others safe

We all still need to follow the guidance on how to stop the spread of coronavirus at all times, including if we have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

This includes staying 2 metres apart from anyone who is not in our household or support bubble where possible.

Face coverings

We need to wear a face covering in many indoor settings, such as shops and places of worship, and on public transport, unless exempt.

People who are clinically extremely vulnerable

From Thursday 1st April, people who are clinically vulnerable, and could be at higher risk of severe illness from coronavirus, will no longer be advised to shield.

If you are clinically extremely vulnerable, you should continue to follow the guidance and protect yourself.

Anyone showing any of the symptoms of

• a new continuous cough
• a fever
• a loss of/ change in smell or taste

should immediately arrange to get a coronavirus test by visiting nhs.uk/coronavirus or calling 119
