At the Annual Meeting of Halewood Town Council held on Thursday 13th May, Councillor Ken Dalton was elected as Mayor for the Municipal Year 2021/22.

In accepting the position, Cllr Dalton expressed thanks to Councillors for his nomination and selection, and looked forward to assisting the council with its ambitious priorities for the coming year. The priorities include a Neighbourhood Plan, refurbishment of The Arncliffe Centre and the township’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cllr B Dunn stays on as Deputy Mayor for 2021/22.

Halewood Town Council is seeking to recruit a Playground Keyholder.

Role

Halewood Town Council is seeking a local person(s) able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to open and close the Hollies playground daily. Broadly, the council requires the playground to be opened mornings through to late afternoons for 7 days per week (times negotiable), with cover provided by Town Council staff during periods of absence.

Main responsibilities

The main responsibilities include the morning unlocking and evening locking of our Hollies Road Playground for children under 7 years and checking the play equipment for damage.

It is desirable that applicants have the following competencies:

• Good communication skills
• Flexibility to provide a daily year-round service (includes Bank holidays)

Payment £1,729 p.a. (£9.50 per hour) Hours 30 minutes daily

• Job share will be strongly considered
• The post will be subject a DBS clearance

Through the months of May and June 2021, Halewood Town Council will be running a best-kept garden competition. This previously popular competition was last held in 2015 and is back after a number of requests and suggestions by residents.

We will be sharing more information and an entry form early next month. This will also include information on the competition prize, closing date and categories.

Halewood Town Council, and the Mayor on behalf of the people of Halewood, join the nation in mourning the loss of His Royal Highness, The Duke Of Edinburgh.

We remember his remarkable life, and his dedication to the Queen, the Country (including active service in World War 2) and the wider Commonwealth.

We have received information from the Highways Team of Knowsley MBC regarding a temporary closure of Higher Road, Halewood. Knowsley MBC advise:

“For your information, essential highway safety improvement works, are planned on a section of Higher Road, Halewood from 27 March 2021 to 28 March 2021. In order that the works can be undertaken quickly and safely the road will be closed, shown on the link below:

The diversion route associated with this closure is via Higher Road, Baileys Lane, Leathers Lane and vice versa.”
