Following the death of Cllr Ken Dalton, there is a vacancy at Halewood Town Council for a councillor position in the North Ward. We are therefore posting notification of the vacancy through to Tuesday 14th June 2022.
A by-election will be called if ten or more electors of the Halewood North Ward, on or before the 14th June 2022, submit a request in writing for an election to be held.

As a mark of respect for the late Councillor Ken Dalton, and to allow staff to attend his funeral today and to pay their respects, both The Arncliffe Centre & Hollies Hall will be closed from Mid-day today.
Centre’s will resume normal hours from tomorrow ( Friday 20th June).
On Thursday 12th May 2022, at its Annual Meeting, Halewood Town Councillors elected Cllr Barbara Dunn as Mayor and Chair of the Council for 2022/23. Cllr Dunn had served as Deputy-Chair of the Council, and Deputy Mayor in 2021/22.
In accepting the nomination, Cllr Dunn paid respects to the council’s outgoing Mayor, the recently departed Cllr Ken Dalton. She also cited the difficult decision to continue with the meeting despite the death of Cllr Dalton.
In her acceptance speech, Cllr Dunn discussed her aims for 2022/23 which will include a strong emphasis on rebuilding the esteem of the ‘Mayor of Halewood’s Charity Fund’. She named her nominated charities for the year and the formation of a committee to support these endeavours. Cllr Dunn was also grateful and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Mayor and ‘First Citizen of Halewood’ commenting:
“I am honoured and proud to be Mayor of Halewood for the next twelve months. My heartfelt thanks to Councillors this evening. It is a privilege to represent Halewood Town Council and Halewood residents, and I shall be putting my heart and soul into “Flying the Flag” for Halewood and work hard on your behalf.”
Cllr Andrew Hesford was elected as Deputy Mayor and Deputy Chair of the Council for 2022/23.
We are now able to advise residents and interested persons of the funeral details for our recently departed Councillor, Ken Dalton.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of current Mayor of Halewood, Councillor Ken Dalton. He passed away after a short illness, and just a few days before the end of his term of office. The thoughts of everyone at Halewood Town Council are with the family at this difficult time.
Ken was a longstanding Town Councillor for the Halewood North Ward. But it was his commitment to the role of Town Councillor, and his passion for the work of the Town Council, for which he will be most remembered. This was subsequently recognised by his Councillor peers in May 2021 when he was elected as a Labour Mayor for Halewood supported by ‘opposition’ Councillors. Ken was immensely proud to spend the past year as the township’s Mayor, and to offer his service to the people of Halewood.
A further notice will be posted when details are received of the funeral arrangements.

‘Soakaway’ on Wood Road Field
A number of residents have contacted the Town Council regarding the pool of water now sited on Wood Road field. This development is called a ‘soakaway’, and has been created by our partners at Knowsley MBC as a means of alleviating the severe drainage problems at the football pitches on Leathers Lane. The football provision on that site is managed by Halewood Town Juniors, and is a popular and well-used provision by local young people. The Town Council therefore understands the rationale for the creation of the ‘soakaway’ to alleviate that problem.
We are using this message to further remind residents that the soakaway is not a play area for children, and we have been alarmed at some recent social media posts that have shown young people treating it in this way. We are in discussion with Knowsley MBC about improved signage and messaging advising about the dangers from the soakaway but, in the interim, we do request parents/carers in particular treat the soakaway as a hazard, as they would for the pond at Court Farm Woods.
