Temporary Road Closure – 28th-29th September

As part of the ongoing pedestrian upgrade works on Higher Road (A562), road closures will be in place along Higher Road (A562), Leathers Lane, Marsden Road & New Hutte Lane commencing Saturday 28th September 2024 and Sunday 29th September at the following locations;

 

  1. A562 Higher Road, Halewood – From a distance of 50m west of its junction with Leathers Lane to its junction with Alexander Grove.
  2. Leathers Lane, Halewood – From its junction with A562 Higher Road to its junction with Woodland Road.
  3. Marsden Road, Halewood – From its junction with Leathers Lane for a distance of 33m in an eastbound direction.
  4. New Hutte Lane, Halewood – From its junction with A562 Higher Road to its junction with Georgian Close.

 

The diversion routes associated with this closure will be via;

 

  • Higher Road – A562 Higher Road (eastbound), A561 Speke Boulevard, A562 Speke Road, Newstead Farm Interchange, A562 Speke Road (westbound), A561 Speke Boulevard, Speke Hall Road, A562 Hillfoot Avenue (eastbound), A562 Higher Road.
  • New Hutte Lane – New Hutte Lane, Torrington Drive.
  • Leather’s Lane – Leather’s Lane, Baileys Lane.
  • Marsden Road – Marsden Road, Roseheath Drive, Leather’s Lane, Baileys Lane.

Anthony Ratcliffe Arts Exhibition

Kirkby Gallery are currently hosting an exhibition of stunning printed images by Anthony Ratcliffe.

They also have some supporting events over the coming months, hosted by Anthony himself:

We have received a report of a scam post on a Halewood Page.
The post is advertising a Summer Fayre on 28th 29th September at Hollies Hall.
We DO NOT have any such booking for these dates.

Union Flag at half-mast

As a mark of respect following the tragic incident in Southport on Monday 29 July 2024, the Union Flag is flying at half-mast outside of the Arncliffe Sports & Community Centre.

 

St Nicholas Church open for reflection

St Nicholas’ Church has informed us of the following and asked us to share with Halewood residents:
In the light of the appalling events in Southport on Tuesday, we will be opening St Nicholas’ Church this evening, Wednesday 31 July, between 6-8pm for anyone who might wish to come and have a quiet space to pray, reflect and light a candle.

Halewood Carnival Postponed

HALEWOOD CARNIVAL POSTPONED UNTIL SATURDAY 31st AUGUST!

After many site visits this week, we have had to make the decision to postpone this year’s Carnival. Unfortunately due to the wet weather we have had over the last few weeks Hollies Field is waterlogged and unsafe for the Fair and Stalls to access.

We have therefore rescheduled for Saturday 31st August.

We look forward to seeing you all on the day.

 

Temporary speed restrictions – Higher Road

In order to facilitate essential signalised pedestrian crossing and cycle lane installation works on Higher Road, Halewood, a temporary 20mph speed limit restriction will be in force along Higher Road, from a distance of 50m west of its junction with Leathers Lane to both the entry and exit slip roads to Speke Road in both eastbound and westbound directions.

 

It is anticipated that works will take place from Monday 22nd July 2024 to Friday 31st October 2025.

In addition, a temporary 20mph speed limit restriction will be in force along Finch Lane, for its entire length.

 

It is anticipated that works will take place from Monday 22nd July 2024 and will have a maximum duration of 18 months.

Temporary Road Closure – Finch Lane

In order to enable essential carriageway repair works to be undertaken on a section of Finch Lane, Halewood, a road closure will be in place on Wednesday 24th July 2024, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. The area of closure will be Finch Lane, from its junction with Higher Road for a distance of 310 metres in a northerly direction.
