On 15th September, at a glittering star studded awards ceremony, Halewood based MEMORY LANE, were delighted to be announced as runner up in the Community Award category at The Echo Awards (the Pride of Merseyside).

The Mayor of Halewood Cllr Tina Harris and her consort Cllr Edna Finneran attended the awards and were delighted to support Pat Mairs and her volunteer colleagues on a night when they, and many others, were rightfully recognised for their outstanding, selfless contribution to the people of Merseyside.

The Town Council were absolutely delighted to be judged as ‘VERY GOOD’ when Hollies Hall was recently inspected by the Environmental Health and Consumer Protection team from Knowsley MBC.

The inspection which was carried out on 5th September, assessed the Town Council’s compliance on food hygiene and safety, structural matters and management control procedures.

At the end of the inspection we were thrilled to be awarded ‘top marks’                 5 STARS under the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

The new Mersey Gateway Bridge is due to open in the Autumn of this year.

Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council are asking for residents’ views on the future of Knowsley’s parks and green spaces.

During September 2017, the independent Knowsley Parks and Green Spaces Review Board is seeking views on a series of recommendations regarding the future and management, funding and governance of the Borough’s green spaces.  The Board’s recommendations recognise the need to reduce the £1.3million which the Council has to spend each year simply to maintain Knowsley’s parks.

The consultation exercise is aimed at identifying new ways to manage and run parks in Knowsley so that they can be protected for the future.  To find out more and share your views, visit the Board’s website.

‘A FABULOUS DAY’

….not our words but those of a resident who, together with his family,  attended the inaugural Halewood Town Council Fun Day was held on 5th August.

During a day of bright sunshine, an estimated 3,500 to 4,000 people came along to Hilton Grace Recreation Ground to enjoy a variety of entertainment and (mostly) free activities and to ‘have a go’ on the fair.

Opened by Cllr Tina Harris, Chairperson of the Town Council and Mayor of Halewood, accompanied by her Consort, Cllr Edna Finneran the day was a resounding success.

The unannounced inspection which was carried out on 9th August, assessed the Town Council’s compliance on food hygiene and safety, structural matters and management control procedures and at the end of the inspection we were  rated ‘4’ under the National Food Hygiene Rating scheme.
