Halewood Uni-Wise (School Uniform Support)
Halewood Town Council is pleased to be partnering with a new community organisation, ‘Halewood Uni-Wise’. This group of volunteers from across Halewood have set up the organisation to recycle school uniforms for free distribution to families. After a strong and successful campaign to promote the need for donations, the group will commence distribution this coming Saturday August 8th at The Arncliffe Centre.
Here is a message from the group’s Facebook Page (where you can also give them a follow). Please share this message, especially with families/friends who might benefit from this excellent initiative:
Hollies Play Area Closed
The Council has taken the decision to close the Hollies Play Area until the week commencing August 3rd. After it reopened on July 6th there were, sadly, a number of instances of anti-social behaviour and threats made to the personnel trying to close the Play Area. Because of this behaviour, the person undertaking the task of closing the site resigned from their role with immediate effect leaving the council with the difficult decision of temporarily closing this provision.
The Play Area will reopen from the week commencing Monday August 3rd when the council will have personnel available to complete the task of opening and closing the site.
Town Council Play Areas – Open from July 4th
In line with government guidance, we are pleased to announce that outdoor children’s play areas will be open from July 4th. This includes the Town Council play areas across Halewood. The enclosed playground on Hollies Road will reopen from 9.00 a.m. on Monday July 6th until 5.00 p.m. This will be its operating times throughout the month of July.
Residents are still advised to practice appropriate Social Distancing with the use of play equipment.

East of Halewood Masterplan
On Thursday June 11th, the Planning Committee of Knowsley MBC will be meeting. One of the main items for discussion at this meeting will be the proposal to sign-off the Masterplan for the East Of Halewood development site. If approved on Thursday, the development will see the building of 1,500 homes and, according to the main report, “…extensive new and improved open spaces to the benefit of new and existing residents”.
The link to the meeting, reports and details on the full plan can be found in the link below:
East of Halewood Masterplan Details
Due to the issues related to Covid-19 this will be a remote meeting with no public participation. However Knowsley Council advises, “Members of the public will of course be able to participate in future Planning Committee meetings which deal with Planning Applications for development at East of Halewood (such as the three live planning applications we are currently considering from Miller Homes, Redrow Homes and Bellway Homes). Meeting dates for consideration of these items have not yet been established, however in due course, those wishing to speak at such meetings will be able to register in the usual way”.
Guidance on Social Gatherings
Halewood Town Council wishes to remind residents of current guidance regarding social gatherings during the lockdown. We are aware of social gatherings in Halewood that occurred over the recent Bank Holiday weekend that will have breached the official guidance. Until government changes the rules the Covid-19 legislation states that:
You can meet one other person from another household, outdoors. The government scientific advice is that you remain 2 metres (6 feet) apart.
You can’t visit friends or relatives in their houses or indoors. Nor can you gather in a larger group with people who are not from your household (apart from a few exceptions, such as funerals). Higher fines will be imposed for anyone who breaks these rules.
As a Town Council it is our duty to work collaboratively and responsibly with respect to the current lockdown with key partners like the NHS, Police, Social Landlords etc. If the Council or individual Councillors become aware of planned gatherings then they will do their best to advise residents of what is and isn’t permissible in law. In addition, for the wider public health of Halewood residents, it is their duty to take responsibility and remind residents of the potential impact of transgressions of the law on their more vulnerable or shielding neighbours.
